Front Range service members to hit the slopes Published Jan. 16, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Samantha Saulsbury 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Service members will be hitting the slopes at the 2014 SnoFest, Jan. 24-26 at Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colo. SnoFest is an annual discounted skiing and snowboarding event for military members and their families hosted by Colorado Front Range military instillations. The festival will include races, parties, giveaways and lodging, along with non-skier activities such as sleigh rides, tubing, ice-skating and a cardboard derby. Lift tickets will only be available for purchase from Information Tickets and Tours at 720-847-6936 through Jan. 18. Skis, snowboards and other gear are available for rental or purchase from Buckley Outdoor Recreation, according to Beth McDonald, Buckley ODR operations clerk. For an additional fee, dinner parties will be held Friday and Saturday night, featuring all-you-can-eat buffets. Participants are asked to dress up according to the themes. Face painters and balloon artists will be at the festivities. Races will include Commander's Cup, team and individual competitions, as well as youth competitions. Competitors can register the mornings of Jan. 24 and 25, however, pre-registration is highly recommended. A practice day for the races is scheduled Jan. 24, allowing racers to get two free practice runs before race day Jan. 25.
