The 460th Space Wing is scheduled to host a Women's Empowerment Social from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Buckley Chapel's fellowship hall.

The social will focus on camaraderie and community service. Participants will create fleece blankets that will be donated to families living in the Comitis Crisis Center, an Aurora, Colo. shelter that caters to homeless military veterans.

The social is open to all Buckley female active-duty, guard and reserve service members, as well as civilians, contractors, spouses, daughters and significant others.

Participants are asked to bring at least enough fleece fabric to make one blanket along with sharp scissors. If you want to make a child's size blanket, you will need two pieces of fabric measuring at least one and a half yards each. For a teen or adult size blanket, you will need two pieces of fabric measuring at least two yards each. They should also bring a favorite appetizer or dessert to share.
