Senior Airman Devonte Speller, 460th Medical Group pharmacy technician, has been submitted by Air Force Space Command for the Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award.

The Air Force-level award is given in honor of Captain Sijan, a Medal of Honor recipient, to recognize Airmen who demonstrate exceptional leadership characteristics in all aspects of their lives.

This award recognizes all traits every Airman should demonstrate, including professional leadership and community involvement.

"With anything in the Air Force, it is always important to know your job first and to be confident," Speller said. "Always go a little above everyone else, and ensure everything gets done."

Throughout the past year, Speller has received many awards for his exceptional performance including AFSPC Airman Pharmacy Technician of the Year, 460th Space Wing Airman of the Year and Senior Airman Below the Zone.

Speller has been active with several organizations including serving as Dorm Council vice president and Airmen Against Drunk Driving president.

"When I joined AADD there was a lot of work that had to be done," Speller said. "We have increased people's trust in the organization and increased the number of lives saved."
