The Buckley Attic is giving away free ball gowns to members of every branch of service 1-3:30 p.m. Sept. 10 and 12 as part of the Cinderella's Closet program.

The Air Force Ball is Sept. 27 and the Attic wanted to do something special to help the community. They have more than 60 dresses to give away to Team Buckley members who needed them.

"Cinderella's Closet is a program that takes formal donated dresses and gives them to people going to the Air Force Ball that need them," said Allison Callahan, Buckley Attic manager. "We are doing this for people who might not actually be able to go because of the cost."

Dresses were mainly donated by military spouses, creating a cycle of giving back to the community. The gowns have been cleaned and seamed, all at no cost to the member.

"With the furloughs and people losing jobs, stretching every penny has never been more important than right now," said Master Sgt. Brandy Sharp, 460th Space Communications Squadron first sergeant. "The Cinderella's Closet program eases the burden of buying a brand new dress for the Air Force Ball."

Cinderella's Closet is another way the Buckley Attic gives back to the military community.

"We wanted to give back to the people that have the requirement to live this kind of lifestyle," explained Callahan. "They shouldn't only have to remember that deployment, but also that special night when they were able to go to the ball. They deserve a fantastic memory."
