Local Girl Scouts adopt dorm residents as Hometown Heros
BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Local Girl Scouts from troop 679 donated close to 300 boxes of a variety of the popular cookies to the residents of Panther and Patriot Hall here March 21. The girls were recognizing their Hometown Heroes, which are the people and organizations that help make communities better places to live. Heroes include fire fighters, police, food banks, shelters and armed forces personnel stationed in United States and overseas. In 2006, the Girl Scouts in the Mile Hi Council donated more than 20,000 boxes of cookies to men and women serving in the armed forces. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Sanjay Allen)
