BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colorado -- Team Buckley gathered at the Air Reserve Personnel Center April 3, 2018 on Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado to welcome its new honorary commanders.

The Buckley AFB Honorary Commander Program’s purpose is to identify common interests between civilian and military life. The program aims to support community efforts and to work together to solve mutual problems. Honorary commanders greatly increase the awareness of the joint effort needed to help the Air Force’s mission.

“When we talk about how awesome Buckley Air Force Base is we don’t go very long or very far without thinking how awesome our community is,” said Col. Troy L. Endicott, 460th Space Wing commander. “We get to induct honorary commanders. Folks who understand executing the mission, leading people, managing resources and improving our community and their businesses.”

Public trust and community support are keys to a strong military structure, and the Buckley honorary commander program is vital to Buckley’s community relations and outreach effort. The program emphasizes informal, one-on-one relationships between Colorado community leaders and Team Buckley leadership.

“It’s important to Team Buckley that we continue to build and maintain strong ties with the community,” said Senior Airman AJ Duprey, 460th Space Wing Public Affairs community engagement. “Programs like the Honorary Commander program allow us to do just that.”
