On March 19, 2019, Lockheed Martin teamed with The Air National Guard and Air Force active duty components to load a 70,000 pound cargo onto a C-17 Globemaster III at Buckley Air Force Base. The mission successfully delivered the second GPS III Space Vehicle to Astrotech Space Operations in Titusville, Florida to begin satellite launch processing. The satellite is the newest iteration of GPS satellites and will be an upgrade to the existing GPS network, supporting commercial enterprises and U.S. military operations around the globe.
