Col. Daniel Dant, 460th Space Wing commander, gave his annual State of the Base address Jan. 16 at the Double Tree Hotel to inform community leaders and members of the Aurora Rotary and Aurora Chamber of Commerce about the base's past, current and future activities.

In addition, Dant discussed Buckley's $1 dollar economic impact to the Denver area.

"I am pleased to announce that Buckley's $1.025 billion economic impact has continued to stay strong even through these hard economic times," said Dant. "It continues to prove that the base does have strong ties with the local communities."

During his presentation, Dant spoke about the three B's: Buckley's missions, Buckley's people and the Buckley community.

Buckley's mission hasn't changed much, as the base has kept the nation's security in control; Buckley's people, especially the younger generation of military and civilian members, bring success to the base; and the Buckley community stays connected even though we all serve the base in different ways, said Dant.

More than 220 civilian and military community members attended the event.
