Construction planned throughout November

BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. - --  In the upcoming weeks, construction will take place to replace degrading infrastructure around Buckley. This construction will be ongoing through November. The estimated cost of the road work is more than $1 million.

"Much of this work is lifecycle replacement. As the roads and striping wears from use, it needs to be kept in a usable and safe condition," said Michael Bock, 460th Civil Engineer Squadron chief of design and construction.

Parking lot, sidewalk, road and lane closures will occur at the following times and locations:

Nov. 2-21: Construction adjacent to Snowmass Street. Road will still be open.

Nov. 5-21: Lane closures on Steamboat Avenue from Aspen Street to Telluride Street. Notification of parking lot closures will be sent one to two days prior due to dependency on weather.

Nov. 5-21: North parking lot closure at Bldg. 351, child development center, and Bldg. 350, youth center. Parking will be available in the south parking lot.

Nov. 7-30: Road closure on Breckenridge Street from Aspen Street to Vail Street. Detour will be marked.

Nov. 12-17: Parking lot closures at the 2nd Space Warning Squadron will occur in three phases:
North section: Nov. 12-13
Center section: Nov. 14-15
South section: Nov. 16-17

Nov. 15-16: Southwest sidewalk closure at Bldg. 1, The Exchange and commissary

Nov. 17: Parking lot closure at Bldg. 41, Visitors Center; Bldg. 1553, Vehicle Inspection Station entrance and exit closure; north parking lot closure at Bldg. 730, 460th Space Communication Squadron facility

Nov. 20-21: Parking lot closure at Bldg. 1030, 460th Space Wing headquarters, will occur in two phases:
North section: Nov. 20
South section: Nov. 21

Nov. 20: Road construction at Bldg. 1, commissary, parking lot south entrance. It will not result in closure of the entrance.

Nov. 21-27: Sidewalk closure at the northwest corner of Telluride Street and Steamboat Avenue

Nov. 23-26: South parking lot and west access road closures at Bldg. 332, Rocky Mountain Lodge

Nov. 23: Southern parking lot closure at Bldg. 351, child development center
