Continuing the national tradition, Buckley observed its annual National Prayer luncheon at the Leadership Development Center Jan. 20

The programs speaker of the hour was Chaplain (Maj. Gen.) Cecil R. Richardson, Chief of Chaplains, U.S. Air Force Chaplain Corps.

It was an amazing time for me," said Staff Sgt. Ruben Leon. "It was a time for everyone to reflect, and a time for everyone to remember our roots and what this nation has been through and accomplished."

The National Prayer Luncheon was inspired by "prayer breakfast" established by members of the Senate, U.S. House Prayer Groups, and then-president Dwight D. Eisenhower and is meant to unite the United States leadership and formally acknowledge the moral and spiritual values which the Nation was founded upon.
