The 460th Space Wing is opening its doors for tax season Jan. 24. These free services will be open to active duty service members, retirees and dependants.

The Tax Center will be open Monday-to Friday with the exception of federal holidays and military family days. Taxes are done by appointment only starting at 8:30 a.m. No Appointments will be made over the phone. All appointments will be on a first come, first serve, and space available basis.

All clients must attend a short briefing to determine if the Buckley Tax Center volunteer are qualified to assist them. During the briefing, clients will receive informational material, including a questionnaire that will facilitate tax form preparation.

We are asking people who have complicated taxes, with dependants or other multiple deductions, to wait until the second week in Feburary to make appointments, said Paul Frank, 460th Space Wing legal office.  Not all of the tax laws are in place at this time, and we are trying to prevent people from having to file more than once.

Service members should bring a military ID, social security card, last year's federal and state return, and any other information necessary to complete this year's tax return to the appointment.

You can find the Tax Center in Bldg. 1030, 460th SW Headquarters, in the north end of the first floor. The Tax Center phone number is 720-847-6450 starting Jan. 24, 2011. If you have any questions before the Tax Center opens on Jan. 24, 2011, you may call 720-847-6273.
