11/05/2010 -- 1 November 1966: The Defense Support Program (dsp) was named the successor to the MIDAS Missile Detection and Early Warning Space Watch Program.
6 November 1970: The first DSP satellite was launched.
What country has sent the most types of living creatures into space?
We've put the following into space: fruit flies (1st living
creature in space-1947), parasitic wasps, flour beetles, spiders, worms,
crickets, snails, silk worms, carpenter bees, harvester ants, hissing
cockroaches, Mexican jumping beans, flat rock scorpions, monkeys, mice,
fish, bull frogs, rats, sea urchins, and fertilized frog and chicken eggs.
