New Air Force uniform changes are on the horizon. Some of the changes are immediate while some are mandatory at a later date and time. In an attempt to keep things pithy I will explain what the changes are:

Wear of the green fleece watch cap is approved for use effective immediately. You are allowed to use it with the All-Purpose Environmental Clothing System, Improved Rain Suit, cold weather parka, sage green fleece and the physical training uniform. Note that the Army version of the green fleece watch cap is disapproved for wear with the Airman Battle Uniform.

Officers can wear the green knit watch cap, green fleece watch cap and black knit watch cap only with sage green fleece that has Velcro name, rank and service designator tapes affixed. Other cold-weather items that are authorized remain unchanged.

Enlisted Airmen are authorized to wear the sage green fleece without Velcro name, rank or service designator over their ABUs until Oct. 1.

Sage green fleece without name/rank/service designator tapes will continue to be the authorized liner for the APECS. The black liner will no longer be authorized with APECS starting Oct. 1.

Women's mess dress A-line skirt is the primary mess dress skirt. The side-slit mess dress skirt is optional. This is effective immediately.
