For the first time, the 460th Comptroller Squadron Financial Services Flight is the Air Force Financial Services Office of the Year for fiscal year 2009.

460th CPTS' implementation of a new self-help resource center, the SOURCE, has helped improve individuals' ability to take control of their own finances, which was one of the many improvements made to help bring this award to Buckley.

"I am extremely proud of the entire organization and their commitment to bring world class financial services to Team Buckley," said Maj. William Hunter, 460th CPTS commander. "We have a young crew, but what they lack in years of experience they make up for with positive attitudes and giving 100 percent effort everyday this allows Team Buckley to focus on the mission and not worry about pay problems."

1st Lt. Kenny Green also highlighted other accomplishments including their number-one accuracy for documents and the ability to set up all vouchers within twenty-four hours.

Finances are a part of life that can cause a lot of stress. Stress was reduced with the feedback system because customers could now always know what was going on with their financial documents. Another customer service improvement was the triage sign-in system that was put into service. The system allows customers to walk in, sign-in with their name and reason for their visit and ring a chime. This let a customer service representative know they had a customer waiting, which cut the wait time down to 1.6 minutes.

When working on personal finances there are many times when a question comes up and you need some extra help, which is what the men and women in the Financial Services Flight are there for, but sometimes you don't know who to call. Therefore, another way they made life easier for customers was by making a small, easily portable information card with all the necessary information for what to do when you need help.

Lieutenant Green explained how hard the office worked throughout the year in order to make things run more productively and even with all the changes they made it still came as a surprise when they were chosen for this award. He described that not only were they excited and proud, but also motivated to keep making improvements for this year and future years to come. One of those improvements is a new E-Finance system for doing travel vouchers, military pay documents and fill out other necessary documents which you can then send from your government computer.

The 460th Comptroller Squadron Financial Services Flight is continually focused on making things easier and more productive on a day-to-day basis for both the customers and the office as a whole.
