CMSAF Roy offers perspective

WASHINGTON -- It is an honor and privilege to serve as your Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force. As I've traveled across Air Force bases in the first few months, Airmen have asked what the priorities for the enlisted force are.

The deliberately develop our professional enlisted Airmen is a priority. There have been some recent changes made to our professional military education system. There will be more changes coming to the way we train, assign and educate our enlisted force. We need to continue develop enlisted leaders who can balance complying with standards, taking care of people and accomplishing the mission. The true strength of our Air Force is our Airmen. We need to have a mindset focused on precision and need to be able to operate in an ever-growing joint and coalition-based environment.

Over the next few weeks, I will travel across the CENTCOM AOR to visit our battlefield Airmen. Our enlisted force is performing brilliantly building capacity in both Iraq and Afghanistan. These operations will take more time and more deployments from our Airmen to be successful. This is our fight to win, not our children's. As enlisted Airmen, we must continue accomplishing every mission our commanders assign us. Our nation's security depends on it.
