Changes are coming to the Buckley Air Force Base telephone dialing system. After Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. users will need to dial all seven digits to place a call on the installation. For example a user who previously dialed 7-1234 will now need to dial 847-1234 to connect their calls. Additionally, users with pre-programmed favorites stored in their phones, will need to update to the new 7-digit sequence.

Current telephone numbers, including area code, will not change and the process for calling commercial numbers, long distance, and calls to other DSN numbers will also remain the same. This change enables the communications squadron to more efficiently manage services such as the E911 emergency service, simplify the billing process, as well as ensure Buckley is compliant with Air Force Instructions.
