Electrical power on Buckley Air Force Base is scheduled to be turned off Aug. 8 between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. in order to safely install a high-voltage electrical circuit between Xcel Energy and the base.

The outage will not affect Buckley Family Housing residents, however, servicemembers residing in the dormitories will be without power. It does not affect the Naval Operations Support Center or critical facilities. The commissary and Base Exchange will be open. All other services are closed.

"This circuit enables us to continue meeting the power requirements in order to support Buckley's mission," said Tech. Sgt. Jenny Romero, 460th Civil Engineer Sqaudron.

The Buckley Health and Wellness Center will host a barbeque cooking demonstration at Panther Hall from 1-3 p.m. Residents wishing to attend the demonstration should RSVP to the HAWC at 720-847-5699 to ensure there is enough food to go around. Additionally, the Dorm Council will host a barbeque for all dorm residents, 1-3 p.m. at Panther Hall. Finally, the 566th Intelligence Squadron will host a barbeque at Patriot Hall from 12-6 p.m.

Emergency services, including fire protection and security forces will operate on generator-based power during the outage.
