A 460th Contracting Squadron lieutenant was awarded a $10,000 check from the Air Force Innovative Development through Employee Awareness Program at the 460th Space Wing commander's call here, June 11.

2nd Lt. Shawn Curro was awarded the check from Col. Wayne McGee, 460th SW commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Arleen Heath, 460th SW command chief. The IDEA Program rewards Airmen for ideas that save Air Force money and resources.

Lieutenant Curro researched and coordinated a large contracting job involving security cameras in a secure area here. She saved the Air Force $495,000 by using the Ohio National Guard to do work that would have been done by a private contractor at a considerably higher expense. She had to do extensive research before she found the Guard unit as a viable resource to get the work done.

If you have an idea that will save time, money, Air Force resources or simply improve a process or quality of life, contact the IDEA program hotline at DSN 847-IDEA/4332 or Commercial (720) 847-1084
