What are the signs of H1N1 Influenza?
-- High fever greater than 100.5F
-- Coughing and/or sneezing
-- Sore throat
-- Vomiting and diarrhea
-- Breathing difficulties
How can I protect myself from H1N1 Influenza?
-- Wash hands with soap and water often and use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
-- Avoid close contact with people who are coughing and sneezing.
-- Cough or sneeze into a tissue or inside your arm.
-- Practice good health habits: get adequate sleep, eat nutritious food and stay physically active.
What do I do if I think I have the illness?
-- Active duty: Seek medical advice with your primary care team if you have flu symptoms.
-- Dependents: If possible, remain home, avoid social gatherings and unnecessary contact with people.
-- Tell the medical provider if you have had contact with a sick person or have traveled recently.
-- Follow the instructions from your medical provider.
-- Inform your supervisor, family and friends of your health status.
How do I care for an ill person at home?
-- Separate the ill person at least three feet from others or preferably place in an isolated room.
-- Follow supportive care instructions from the medical provider.
-- Keep the home clean by using household cleaning agents.
-- Wash hands regularly with soap and water.
