Petty Officer 1st Class Coey Sipes, NIOC - Colorado

TEAM BUCKLEY WARRIOR OF THE WEEK -- Petty Officer 1st Class Coey Sipes, the training superintendent for Navy Information Operations Command - Colorado is Team Buckley's Warrior of the Week for Feb. 20 - 26.

Petty Officer Sipes has served in the Navy for eight years and hails from Sacramento, Calif., which she says is the leading agricultural city in California. In her free time she enjoys hiking and photography.

What is the combat capability that this person exemplified to earn the title, "Warrior of the Week?
"Without the meticulous attention to detail that Petty Officer Sipes possesses, the training of the entire Mission Operations Group would not be at the level that it is today," said Senior Chief Petty Officer William McElroy, Training Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. "She is a tremendous asset to the Aerospace Data Facility - Colorado team."

How do your day-to-day duties impact the Navy's mission?
Training of young Sailors is at the forefront of the mission and without my help in training them, the mission of protecting the national security of the United States would be in jeopardy.

If you could change one thing about the Navy what would it be?
The "don't ask don't tell policy."

Why do you serve?
Because I love my country and feel that it is one thing I can do that gives back what this country has given me.

What has been your most memorable experience in the Navy?
Graduating Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape School.

What is your most memorable personal accomplishment?
Becoming a Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization evaluator at Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron One.

If you were not in the military, where would you be? Why?
I would be a social worker because I enjoy helping people with their problems.

Where would you like to be in 10 years? What will you be doing?
A Limited Duty Officer at my old squadron.
