Airmen no longer need to carry their Aerospace Expeditionary Force identification card with them according to an e-mail from the Force Management Policy director.

In the e-mail, Brig. Gen. Darrell Jones cites a Quick Reaction Cell, or QRC, submission recommending elimination of the AEF ID card because it was ineffective as a predictive tool since nearly 50 percent of deployed Airmen are currently deployed outside of the AEF construct. The card was also ineffective as career fields will now be aligned in different tour lengths and dwell ratios.

The e-mail is the authority to cease production and distribution of the AEF ID card.

The elimination of the card was approved by Maj. Gen. K.C. McClain and Maj. Gen. William Rew, as the chair and co-chair, respectively, at the QRC.

Airmen now have access to their AEF ID through the Virtual Military Personnel Flight. Upon login, the initial page will contain their AEF information.
