In an effort to increase environmental stewardship, base officials are initiating a new recycling program beginning this month.

The program uses single-stream recycling collection, meaning recyclers can put every recyclable into one bin. Research has shown this method will increase recycling user participation and increase the volume of materials collected.

The base will be outfitted with white recycling dumpsters. All accepted material can go into the same dumpster; there is no need to sort materials except for anything that contained food.

If recycle bins are needed in an office area or for more information about recycling here, please call 720-847-9141.

Team Buckley Recycles and the 460th Civil Engineer Squadron will provide more information about single-stream recycling during America Recycles Day at a booth at the base exchange/commissary Nov. 15. Everyone with access to Buckley is invited to stop by the booth from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for more information about single recycling locations and examples of recycled products. Recycling helps conserve valuable natural resources, saves energy, reduces air and water pollution, and saves landfill space.
