Coast Guard Cryptologic Unit Colorado

  • Published
The entire Coast Guard Cryptologic Unit Colorado, a Coast Guard detachment here, is the Star Performer this week. There are only 16 members in the detachment, which was formed in late 2005 when the Coast Guard converted their liaison officer billet to become the supervisor of a new detachment which is led by Lt. James Knapp.

The detachment works in the Aerospace Data Facility and the personnel assigned to it conduct technical training and analysis of the maritime domain in support of tactical and operational fleet commands, combatant commanders and national policymakers.

In conjunction with daily analytical duties, members of the detachment simultaneously develop, train, and refine their intelligence skills to support afloat operations on the Coast Guard's new and developing Offshore Patrol and National Security cutters.
