From 8-11 May, U.S. Army North hosted an Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officers conference at Buckley Space Force Base, Colo.

The EPLO conference brings together representatives from all services to collaborate on ways to improve the EPLO program and enhance Department of Defense emergency response coordination efforts.

“The goal of the event was to conduct training and to discuss EPLO employment during a Homeland Defense scenario that they might have to deploy an Isolated Personnel Report, a Lead Federal Agency or as the DoD taking on that role as the LFA,” said Brady Jensen, the Army EPLO Program Manager. “This event is important because it acts a deployment readiness exercise for the EPLOs as outlined in DoDI 3025.23.”

They also discussed Defense Support of Civil Authority. DSCA takes place when LFA request DOD support during domestic emergency situations such as natural disasters or COVID-19 response. Among the speakers was U.S. Space Force Col. Marcus Jackson, Space Base Delta 2 commander. Jackson spoke of the importance of the event and thanked all those in attendance.
