Lt. Gen. David Miller Jr., commander of Space Operations Command, Mrs. Samantha Miller, spouse, and CMSgt Caleb Lloyd, Senior Enlisted Leader, visited Buckley Space Force Base June 6, 2024, where they immersed with Space Base Delta 2 personnel and its mission.

During Miller's first visit to Buckley as the SpOC commander, he learned about the capabilities and limitations in effectively generating and fielding combat-ready forces of SBD 2, leading as a service force provider, and proactively engaging as a combat forces proponent.

“Space Base Delta 2 sets a high standard with its state-of-the-art operations and dedicated personnel,” Miller said. “Their efforts ensure we remain vigilant and ready to face any challenge. The integration and proactive engagement we see here are vital to our national defense and the continued success of the Space Force.”

While the Space Force continues to develop as the Department of Defense’s newest branch, leaders like Miller and Lloyd aim to ensure Guardians and Airmen are equipped with the resources they need to maintain a ready and capable force. This includes fostering an environment that supports both professional excellence and personal well-being.

"America has given us the best in the world; each Guardian has been handpicked," Miller concluded. "Together, we can continue to do better each and every day. We will generate better ideas than we ever could. We must emphasize excellence— that is what professionals do."

In the middle of his tour, Miller took the time to share his leadership perspective and listen to the field during a commanders and senior enlisted leader lunch.

"Key points from Lt. Gen. Miller's address highlighted the importance of readiness and looking after our personnel," stated Capt. Joseph Gibson, operations officer for the 460th Security Forces Squadron. "While Col. Dexter adeptly conveys his vision, the direct communication from Lt. Gen. Miller underscored his objectives and priorities, guaranteeing that our actions are in sync."

The visit solidified Buckley's significance in the Space Force's mission landscape. With a clearer understanding of the challenges and importance of their work, the SpOC leadership team departed with a firm commitment to ensuring Guardians and Airmen have the support they need to excel in their critical mission of safeguarding the nation's interests in space.
