Team Buckley will be participating in Feds Feed Families, a federal food drive organized by the Department of Agriculture in partnership with Chief Human Capital Officers Council, June 1 - August 31.

Feds Feed Families was established to help those who are going through tough times. It is an opportunity for federal families to give back to those in the community who need it most.

The 460 Space Wing will be providing donations for Feds Feed Families to the Food Bank of the Rockies. The Food Bank of the Rockies provides food and supplies to more than 800 hunger-relief organizations in the northern Colorado area.

"My experience was very rewarding working with Feds Feed Families," said Staff Sgt. Dylan Williams, 460th Security Forces Squadron NCO in charge of commanders support staff, who headed up Buckley's participation in the food drive last year. "The staff that I worked with at Food Bank of the Rockies was ecstatic to say the least. Especially when we told them we have 830 pounds of food coming their way."

Feds Feed Families accepts canned goods as well as whole-grain foods such as brown rice, whole-grain cereal and whole-wheat pasta.

Since its inaugural year in 2009, Feds Feed Families has accepted and given out over 20 million pounds of goods to families in need across America.

"Last year the AF donated over 200,000 pounds of food to charities around the country," said 1st Lt. Ashley Gammon, 460th SW commanders action group chief, who has taken the lead in this year's campaign on Buckley to collect donations.

By continuing support and participation in programs such as Feds Feed Families, relations strengthen between military installations and the local populace.

"It is very important for Buckley AFB and every installation within the DOD to participate in food drives as it directly impacts the local community," said Williams. "Food drives are a great way for all Airmen to give back to the community."
