Recently, the need for personal security and privacy has become something everyone must be aware of. In an effort to reduce today's risks, situational awareness and reporting suspicious activity that is highly encouraged.

Besides calling the Air Force Office of Special Investigations office, the AFOSI now has three more ways to report tips.

The tip line provides service members and their families a safe, discreet and anonymous option to report criminal information, counterintelligence indicators or force protection concerns. Military members wanting to report suspicious activity can text their tip to 274637 (CRIMES), by using the tip website or by using the smartphone application called "TipSubmitMobile".

When you submit a tip online, your form is sent using state of the art software through a Secure Socket Connection. Tips submitted through the web are encrypted, confidential, anonymous and immediately and securely transferred directly to AFOSI.

After submitting your tip, you will be provided with your own unique tip number and will be afforded an opportunity to create a password that you will use when checking on the status of your tip. If you have more information at a later time, re-contact the tip line and provide and update to your original tip.

Some basic principles to follow when it comes to personal security and privacy on social media include changing your default privacy setting to friends only, establishing and maintaining connections with people you know and trust, and assuming that anyone can see information about your activities, personal life or professional life that you post and share.

It's also important to ensure that your family takes similar precautions with their accounts. Their privacy and sharing settings can expose your personal data and put them at risk.

Immediately report suspicious activity on or off Buckley Air Force Base by contacting the Eagle Eyes line at 720-847-7770, or the AFOSI Eagle Eyes line at 720-847-6607.
