Team Buckley celebrated the 460th Space Wing's 10th birthday Aug. 22 with FunFest, a base-wide event that included friendly competition, community involvement and local business sponsors.

More than 3,000 participants celebrated the event with performances by local band Random Hero, food and drinks from local vendors, inflatable games, a zip-line and other activities.

"The point of FunFest is to bring the community together," said Jeffrey Heagerty, Buckley Outdoor Recreation chief. "It's to let them have some free time and to let their hair down."

FunFest culminated a day full of sports competitions and activities in celebration of its anniversary. Each squadron had the opportunity to create teams to compete in the base-wide events ranging from soccer to dodge ball to a 10k bike race.

"It was really enjoyable for the whole family; the free food and games for the kids, adults too, made it a great time," said Tech. Sgt. Gregory Whittet, 460th Civil Engineer Squadron first sergeant. "Can't wait for next year!"
