Submissions for the 2013 President's Securing Americans Value and Efficiency Award are due Aug. 9.

Since 2009, the SAVE Award has allowed federal employees to submit more than 85,000 ideas in an effort to save tax dollars.

Applications for the SAVE award must improve quality at a lower cost, simplify a process to reduce administrative burden or improve an operation's efficiency.

Previous award-winning ideas have ranged from creating a tool-lending system that prevents repeat tools from being bought to purchasing bus passes instead of providing private transportation.

For more information or to submit an idea that would possibly save the government time or money should be submitted before Aug. 9 to the President's Save Award website.
