BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. --
This month marks the annual kickoff for the Air Force Assistance Fund at Buckley Air Force Base which is scheduled to run from March 8 to April 16.
Through the adversities of last year, members across the installation raised over $17,000 in 2020 and are on pace to raise $23,740 in 2021.
From financial relief to academic grants and scholarships, the annual campaign is a fundraiser dedicated to helping past and present Airmen and Guardians in need. Additionally, the AFAF supports active-duty personnel and their families, spouses, family members of deceased service members, and Air National Guard and Reserve Airmen. The proceeds from donations also support affiliate organizations such as the General and Mrs. Curtis E Lemay Foundation, the Air Force Aid Society, the Air Force Enlisted Village Foundation, and the Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation.
“This past year has taught us a lot; nothing more important than how critical it is to take care of one another,” said Col. Brian Chellgren, acting Buckley Garrison Commander. “The Air Force Assistance Fund is the singular program that is for Airmen and Guardians, by Airmen and Guardians. It is our opportunity to take care of our own.”
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues in 2021, physical campaigning to collect donations and educate donors will temporarily cease. Group projects officers will contact Airmen and Guardians through virtual means (phone, email, social media, etc…) to educate them about future opportunities.
