Members of Team Buckley gathered at Building 606 to celebrate Arbor Day June 30.

Lt. Col. William Morrison, 460th Mission Support Group deputy commander, was on hand to accept the Tree City USA award from Keith Wood, a Colorado State Forester representing the Arbor Day Foundation.

To be a Tree City USA, locations are required to have a department which creates and implements a community tree management program for the care of trees on public property, a community tree ordinance to determine tree care policies, a community forestry program and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

Col. Trent Pickering, 460th Space Wing vice commander, fulfilled the final requirement by proclaiming June 30 as Arbor Day.

Following the proclamation and the Tree City USA presentation, children from the Buckley Air Force Base Youth Programs and Child Development Center planted a tree.
